Since the early 1990's, Forsyth has been consistently ranked as one of the nation's fastest growing counties. As the Atlanta suburbs continued to spread, and with the final completion of GA-400 in 1993, people were moving north, and some families were interested in leaving their existing congregations and starting a work in Cumming. Members from the Roswell and Embry Hills churches of Christ were the charter members, and on April 2nd, 1995, the first service was held at the Klub Kids Daycare center under the name of the South Forsyth church of Christ.

The group was successful, and it wasn't long before plans were being made for a more permanent home. In July of 1997, the church purchased 3 acres at the foot of Sawnee Mountain, with the intent to build a building there to worship. A lot of the work was done by the members, and so for the next several years - brick by brick - the building was constructed. Finally in the year 2000 construction was completed, and the first service was held in April, along with a formal name change to the Mountain View Church of Christ.

Over the next decade or so, the church (as well as the county) continued to grow. To meet the need for more seating, several projects were undertaken to remove walls and classrooms to accommodate families who came to worship. Eventually the congregation decided to purchase a couple acres of adjacent land in 2017, with the goal of building an additional auditorium and expanded parking lot. Work started on the current building in 2020, and by October of 2023 the first service was held in the new structure. The old building was reconfigured into additional classrooms, and work continues as the county expands Highway 20 in front of the building, in anticipation of future community growth.

But the history of the Mountain View church is not a history of buildings or projects. It's the history of people. And from the first service in 1995 with 23 members to the current group today, spiritual growth has been and will always be the goal. We hope that simple Christianity will continue to flourish in this county, and that Mountain View can shine as a light to a people in a dark world, and carry on the message of Jesus Christ, and the love He has for all mankind.
